  This module defines a type 'binary' that is a vector of bits.  It provides
  functions to convert strings and bytes (i.e., Word8.word) to and from the
  binary type.  Functions are also provided to convert a string to and from
  the vector of binaries representing the ASCII code of each character
  (note that these are stored in the reverse order to that in the original
  string).

  For example

    val (SOME b) = Binary.fromString("110");

  gives

    val b : bit(hidden) vector = #V[ZERO, ONE, ONE]
    
  which can be converted back to a string using

    Binary.toString b;

  The functions Binary.fromAscii and Binary.toAscii convert strings of
  ASCII characters into binary vectors, while Binary.fromByte and
  Binary.toByte convert between binary vectors and bytes. 
  For example, using the same environment as above

    Binary.toByte b;    

  gives
