| Description | When upgrading to a new version of the P4DTI it's easy to accidentally delete your configuration. You have to carefully follow the instructions, which we know doesn't always happen. |
| Analysis | Here are some possibile ways to solve this: 1. Write an installer (see job000046). Sledgehammer to crack a nut? 2. Don't distribute a config.py in the archive. Call it something else, e.g., "config-1.1.2.py". Ask people to copy it to config.py when they install. 3. Make the archive expand into a different directory for each version (e.g., C:\Program Files\p4dti-1.1.2). But this doesn't help if you re-install the same version. |
